Ping

Starting off the year with a new portrait.  I used a watercolor wash for the foundation of the background.  Instead of a flat pigment, a fabulous spontaneous reaction happens when using granulating pigments. One never knows what is going to come out of granulated pigments and it's always interesting.  The detail was added with colored pencil.  The size of this piece is 8" x 8".  While small, its presentation on a cradled board commands attention.

I am asked all the time if rabbits actually look like this.  Yes they do.  This is a Tan, a small domestic rabbit originating in England.  Her name is Ping.  Her coloration makes her a black Tan.
