The Old Barn... finished

The old milk barn is now gone.  Originally it was part of a thriving dairy.  There are no more pastures and cows.  The property had been sold and the new owners probably had little choice but to remove it before it fell in on itself.  Unfortunately the barn had not been maintained so there really wasn't any way to save it at this point.  It was such a beautiful building.  It was hard to watch from the highway as section by section was removed until it was no more.  

Pen and ink using Derwent Graphite Linemakers and watercolor on Arches hot press watercolor board.  On display in the Gallery at the Columbia County Courthouse through the month of December 2019.  

The Old Barn

The old barn was built in 1885 as part of a dairy farm.  The property was recently sold.  Because the barn wasn't kept up it is now beyond saving and will be torn down on November 22nd. My little sketch group made a point of going out to before it was too late.  I only had a couple of hours to work on it as I had another appointment to run off to but I took a bunch of pictures and will finish this later.
