Old Hwy 30

New card from a watercolor in my sketchbook.
I really liked this image so I decided to add it to my note card collection.

A new prototype - Portland Bridges

New card design featuring a map of Portland with all of the bridges noted.  I really had fun with this... I made my own font, refreshed my knowledge of how to use Illustrator and incorporated a city sketch in pen and ink and watercolor from the east bank of the Willamette River looking at downtown Portland.  It's a fun mashup of digital and traditional methods.

Often asked for... The Caples House

Another new card debuting this weekend at the Scappoose Farmers Market.  The Caples House, built in 1870 and is maintained by the Daughters of the American Revolution.  This painting is gouache - a rare medium for me.  Gouache is closely related to watercolor but has completely different properties.

Scappoose Farmers Market

Socially distancing at the Scappoose Farmers Market.

The hosts put a lot of effort in to making sure everyone could shop safely. Everyone wore masks, hand sanitizer was available at both entrances to the market and everyone kept their distance from each other.  It's different but doable during a pandemic.

New home portrait finished

What else would I be doing in the middle of a pandemic? Painting home portraits of course. Here’s another one. Watercolor on hot press cotton paper - all archival quality materials.
