The Newels of Timberline Lodge: Walking Tour

This is a 4" x 18" card that folds down to 4" x 6".  Depending on how you open it, one side is a brief history of the lodge and the unique bird and animal newels that were carved from 1935 - 1937 during the WPA project.  The card comes in a clear plastic protective sleeve. 

The other side are the newels arranged in the order you will find them in the lodge starting from the ground floor walking up the stairs:

Ye Old Grog Distillery

This week I took my plein air group out to Ye Old Grog Distillery in St Helens, OR.  This is in my journal so it's never going to be out and about.  I used watercolor again.  It's a heck of a lot faster than working in colored pencil.  Currently I don't have fine brushes so I used water soluble pencils for the lettering.  What a fun morning.  

The slow version of the 2017 Quick Draw

I decided to complete this years Quick Draw piece.  I learned lots by finishing the piece.  I would have needed another six hours to finish what I started.  Next year I will have to think about how to change my approach to be finished in under two hours - the competition timeline.
