Morning Sunrise

Just before the sun comes up, everything is still, quiet.  Colors are muted.  Birds sing in the distance. It's like the world is holding it's breath waiting for the day to begin.

I had to capture this morning - if for nothing else to remember a perfect moment in time.

"Morning Sunrise"
Dimensions: 6" x 17"
Sennelier's watercolor on 140# Arches hot press paper

It was juried in to the Rose Festival Show hosted by the Oregon Society of Artists in Portland, OR for the month of June.

Paper towel series

I know it sounds silly but it was the combination of the subtle design on the paper towels I was drying herbs on that inspired this series:

SQUIRREL CHRONICLES: Goldilocks

I am often asked if rabbits actually look like this.  They do!  This is a Tan, a rabbit originating in England in the late 1800's.  It is a small rabbit, maturing to on average four pounds as an adult.  Most often seen at shows are the black Tans (referred to as black and tan in the UK).  The other varieties (colors) in the breed are chocolate, blue and lilac.  All share the same striking markings and color contrast.
